Choose the part you want to keep
- Choose or drop an image, or try the example.
- Drag a new crop, move the selection, or resize it with a corner handle. Choose a locked aspect ratio or free selection.
- Use Crop and preview to inspect the encoded result, then download your crop. Undo restores the previous image and crop selection. Undo selection change reverses the last selection adjustment without changing image pixels.
Locked ratios and exact selections
Square, landscape, portrait, original-image and custom ratios stay locked while dragging corner handles. Dimensions round to whole pixels, so very small selections can differ slightly from the mathematical ratio. Choose Free selection for independent width and height.
Use the exact pixel controls for precise crops. With a locked ratio, changing width updates height and changing height updates width. Arrow keys move the selection by one pixel; Shift moves ten pixels. Zoom changes the view only.
Preview before downloading
The shaded area is removed. Selection handles never appear in your download. Crop and preview applies the selection and prepares a real encoded image. A changed selection disables stale exports until applied. Use Undo, Redo, Restore original or Show original to review changes.
PNG preserves transparency. JPG uses the selected background color and lossy quality. Cropping does not enlarge the image. For resizing, rotation or annotations, use the full image editor.
Privacy and limits
Images stay on your device. Use PNG or JPG up to 10 MiB, 4 million pixels and 4,096 pixels per side. Browser decoding applies EXIF orientation; animated PNG is treated as a still frame. Exports do not retain source metadata. History keeps up to 30 states within 64 MiB; the original stays available until replacement. Restore cleared image recovers the cleared workspace, crop history and completed export until a new image is accepted or you leave the page. Decode and encode waits have a 30-second deadline; cancelled results cannot replace current work.
