Number your document
- Choose a plain, unsigned PDF.
- Select a number style, starting number and position. Set the font size and edge margin for your document.
- Use Skip first page / cover, or untick specific thumbnails. Inspect any page to see its number.
- Create the numbered PDF, review the generated pages and download.
Two ways to count
Count selected pages only starts the first ticked page at your chosen number. For example, skip the cover of a six-page document and the remaining five pages receive 1 through 5.
Use document page order counts every original page, including unticked pages. With a starting number of 1, skipping that same cover leaves numbers 2 through 6. Unticked pages receive no new number. Totals use the last number in the sequence, so a selected three-page sequence starting at 10 displays 10 / 12, 11 / 12 and 12 / 12.
Preview and placement
Numbers are added as selectable Helvetica text. The live preview uses a browser font approximation; creating the PDF switches the preview to the actual saved output. Placement follows visible crop boxes and page rotations. If a number cannot fit a small page, reduce the font size or margin. Existing content is retained; choose an empty margin to avoid covering text.
Privacy and limits
All processing stays in your browser. Use a plain unsigned PDF up to 20 MiB and 100 pages. Encrypted files, signatures and interactive forms are unsupported. PDF work has a 30-second worker limit inside a one-minute overall operation. Cancel retains the accepted source and selection; Clear removes the document from the workspace; Undo changes restores source, settings, selection, preview and completed download after edits or Clear. Successful exports or accepted replacements end recovery. Failed replacements preserve previous work and a successful download.
This adds visible numbers; it does not change PDF page-label metadata or remove numbers already printed on a page. Your source file remains unchanged.
