Formatting and section order

Keep the text readable. Generate the PDF to inspect the actual spacing and page breaks; no content is removed to force a page count.

    Create your resume

    1. Enter your name and at least one section. Add accurate experience and education; start each entry on a new line.
    2. Preview the resume text, then generate the PDF. Inspect the actual PDF pages with Previous / Next and full-size inspection before downloading. Plain-text download is also available.
    3. Save a draft if desired. It stays in this browser on this device; use Clear form and saved draft to remove it.

    The example uses fictional credentials. Replace every example detail with your own before applying. You can omit optional sections. Keep roles in reverse chronological order where appropriate.

    Choose your formatting

    Open Formatting and section order to choose Helvetica or Times, 10–12 pt body text, ½–1 inch margins and three line-spacing options. Drag section cards or use Up/Down buttons. Empty sections stay omitted. Reset formatting only preserves your content and paper size; saved drafts include formatting. Older drafts use the original defaults.

    Generate the PDF after each change to inspect all pages. The tool never deletes content to fit a target page count. Browser Print uses its own paper and margin settings; download the generated PDF for the exact previewed layout.

    Readable formatting

    A single-column layout and standard headings make the text easy to review. PDFs contain selectable text and paginate automatically. The generated preview shows the exact downloadable PDF, its page count, paper dimensions and byte size. Read each page as extracted text or zoom in to inspect the layout. Editing content or paper size clears the previous output. CareerOneStop’s formatting guide describes common resume formats. Follow the employer’s requested file format. No template guarantees an applicant tracking system result or interview.

    Privacy and limits

    Preview and PDF generation run locally, with the PDF in a browser worker. Drafts use localStorage only after Save; they can be read by someone using the same browser profile. Do not save sensitive details on a shared device. Clear removes this tool’s saved draft and current entries. Downloaded files remain on your device. No employer submission, external AI or content upload.

    This PDF exporter supports Western European characters through its built-in font. Unsupported characters produce an explicit error; they are never silently removed. Unicode text remains available in TXT and browser Print / Save as PDF where supported. Check printed output in your browser’s preview. Limit: 20 PDF pages with section-specific character bounds. Drafts are not encrypted, synchronized or guaranteed to survive browser data cleanup.

    Does this score my resume?

    No. Review spelling, dates and accomplishments yourself, and tailor truthful content to the vacancy. The tool makes no hiring or ATS score claims.

    Can I change a generated resume?

    Edit the fields and preview again. Any change clears the old preview and PDF so you cannot download a stale document. Loading a saved draft replaces the current entries.
