Calculate from totals, even when subjects differ
Overall percentage = total earned marks ÷ total possible marks × 100. For 80 out of 100 and 100 out of 200, the total is 180 out of 300, or 60%. Simply averaging the subject percentages, 80% and 50%, would give 65% and would not represent the combined marks.
Use a single row if you already know your overall earned and possible totals. For subject rows, include only the subjects your policy counts. A score of zero is a real included score. An excluded subject contributes neither earned nor possible marks and keeps its entered values for review. This tool does not infer absence, pending results or pass/fail rules.
Clear limits and exact workings
Up to 50 rows, with optional names up to 80 UTF-16 units. Included possible marks must be greater than zero and no more than 100,000 per row. Earned marks range from zero to that possible maximum. Enter ordinary decimal digits with a dot and up to two decimal places; extra credit above the maximum is unsupported.
Totals use exact decimal arithmetic. Percentages round half-up to four decimal places, with trailing zeros hidden on screen. JSON includes the reduced exact percentage fraction before rounding. CSV contains individual rows and included totals, with spreadsheet-sensitive names protected. Percentages are mathematical results, not an institution’s grade, rank or eligibility decision.
Recover your entries
Add, remove, example and clear offer one Undo step that restores both subjects and the previously calculated result. Uncalculated drafts stay uncalculated. Editing a field or inclusion checkbox discards that structural undo and invalidates old results. Invalid entries preserve your work and focus the field to fix. Nothing is uploaded or saved automatically; leaving the page loses the draft. Download workings you want to keep.
If your course uses assessment weights rather than raw marks totals, use the grade calculator. Use GPA calculator for credit-weighted grade points.
