Image to ICO

Turn a PNG or JPG into a multi-size ICO. Visually crop or contain your image, preserve transparency and inspect each icon size locally.

Or drop one image here. Up to 10 MB and 12 million pixels; your image stays on this device.

Select any combination. More sizes help the receiving app choose an appropriate image.

Undo changes restores your image, framing, sizes and ICO after edits, Reset or Clear. Creating a new ICO or accepting a replacement image ends recovery.

Make one ICO with several sizes

  1. Choose a PNG/JPG or try the sample logo.
  2. Keep the whole image with optional padding, or crop it to a square. Drag the crop preview to position your image, or use the zoom and position controls.
  3. Select the sizes to include, inspect their previews, create the ICO and download it.

Example

A 600 × 300 logo stays complete in a square with transparent space above and below. Crop mode fills the square and removes content outside the crop. Include 16, 32 and 48 pixels for small icon uses, or add 256 for a larger version. These are convenient presets, not a guarantee of every target application’s requirements.

Privacy and compatibility

Processing happens in this browser. No image upload, external API or persistent storage is used. One input is limited to 10 MB, 12 million pixels and 16,384 pixels per side. The browser applies EXIF orientation. Animated PNG becomes a still image. SVG, GIF, HEIC, WebP and existing ICO input are not accepted here.

The output holds selected 16, 24, 32, 48, 64, 128 and 256-pixel square PNG-compressed images inside a real ICO container. It preserves alpha when requested; PNG compression in ICO requires a modern reader. Older bitmap-only icon software is not supported. All sizes are generated from the same source framing; there is no hand-drawn optimization for small sizes. Inspect your target application before relying on the icon. Enlarging a tiny source does not restore detail.

Changes invalidate the previous download. Undo changes restores the image, framing, selected sizes and exact ICO after edits, Reset or Clear. Creating a new ICO or accepting a replacement image ends recovery. Invalid or cancelled replacements preserve the current source and any prepared ICO. Clear removes the current image and results from view; Undo is available until new work replaces that recovery point. Decode/encoding waits have a 30-second deadline; cancellation discards obsolete work even if native encoding is still finishing. Source metadata is not preserved.
