Update the properties that matter
- Choose a PDF or try the sample. Original values appear below each field.
- Edit the fields you want to change and review the change list. Restore original fields returns to the uploaded values. Undo changes recovers the previous fields, metadata mode and edited download after edits or Clear. A successfully saved PDF ends that recovery.
- Save, then download the edited PDF. Your original file remains unchanged.
Standard properties and XMP
PDF readers may use either the document information dictionary or the XMP stream. By default, changed fields are updated in both. Untouched fields and unrelated XMP properties are preserved. Title and description edits update the default language while retaining other languages; clearing one removes its language variants. An author edit replaces the author list with one entry. PDF keywords and XMP topic tags are distinct.
For an unsupported XMP stream, you can explicitly choose standard-only editing. This keeps the original XMP stream, which may continue to show different values in other readers. Use the PDF metadata viewer to inspect both sources.
What stays unchanged?
Page contents, page order, creation date and modification date are retained. The file is rewritten, so its bytes and size change. Editing does not certify PDF/A compliance. Signed, encrypted and interactive-form PDFs are rejected to avoid altering protected workflows.
Privacy and limits
Processing stays in your browser. Use one plain PDF up to 20 MiB and 100 pages, with at most 2,000 characters per field, 64 KiB standard properties and 1 MiB decoded UTF-8 XMP. Processing can be cancelled and has a 45-second deadline. Invalid replacement files preserve your previous edits and download.
Clearing the six fields is not a privacy scrubber: dates, custom metadata, attachments, hidden objects and document content may still contain identifying information. Download and inspect a copy before sharing it.
